We experience it in everything from fashion to hairstyles and, yes, at the office. The revolving door of trends — bell bottoms to straight leg jeans; short bobs to long tresses; open space to private space — we’ve all been there and back again. However, rejuvenating popular design principles of the past is not necessarily a fad. Sometimes, drawing on the perspective of iconic designers brings us back to the core purpose of our work.
In this issue of Impact, we learn that whether it’s designing an entire building or a single chair, the vision and focus should be on how people will experience the final product in their everyday lives. From the human scale and nature-inspired philosophies of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, to the explorations in space and human connectedness by furniture manufacturer izzy+, designs of today serve as catalysts for employee health, innovation and efficiency.
